Celtic sea salt is a healthy salt

Celtic sea salt is a special type of salt that contains 30% sodium, 59% chloride, 7% moisture including a lot of magnesium and 0.2% potassium. The remaining 4% consists of other minerals and trace elements. Due to its unique composition, it is much healthier for us than the salt we buy in the supermarket. The salt is extracted, partly by hand, in Brittany in France. It is intended as table salt and has some important health benefits. This sea salt is the lowest in sodium available and it also detoxifies your digestive tract.

Two forms of Celtic sea salt

Both forms are very rich in minerals and trace elements, such as magnesium. Of all salts, Celtic salt has the lowest sodium chloride content, making it the softest and friendliest sea salt in the world. The more than two thousand year old Celtic salt extraction process is responsible for this (1*). There are two different types of Celtic sea salt because the sodium tends to crystallize on top and these crystals are finer than other minerals and trace elements. This top white salt layer is called fleur de sel and is the most expensive Celtic sea salt and comes from the Guérande region in Brittany, France. The top layer is very thin and therefore produces relatively little fleur de sel. Fleur de sel contains slightly more sodium than the bottom salt layer, the sel gris. The fact is that Celtic sea salt offers more space for other minerals and trace elements, both from land and sea. This promotes the health of people, animals, soil and plants.

Composition of the sea salt

  • Moisture: 7.0%
  • Calcium: 0.12%
  • Sodium Chloride: 89.0%
  • Iron: 85mg/kg
  • Magnesium: 0.71%
  • Manganese: 6.8mg/kg
  • Potassium: 0.20%
  • Zinc: 5 mg/kg

Why do you need salt?

Our body contains salt or salt-like substances in various places:

  • As babies, we lie in the womb in a salty pool called ‘amniotic fluid’, which looks suspiciously like a diluted ocean. Our cerebrospinal fluid is also a diluted ocean. Our blood tastes salty, as do our sweat and tears. Blood consists of 0.9 percent mineral salts, its composition is 98 percent identical to sea salt and is therefore a diluted ocean. We are a diluted ocean on no fewer than three crucial levels, namely our blood plasma, our lymphatic fluid and the fluid that surrounds our cells.
  • Diarrhea is treated with a simple water and saline solution and we are given saline solutions in a hospital to keep us alive (2*).

Sole

Through sole there is an opportunity to take Celtic sea salt every day. To make sole, fill a glass bottle with 1/3 part Celtic sea salt and 2/3 part water and then shake the contents well. If grains of salt remain on the bottom, this indicates that the water is completely saturated, so this is good. This concentrated saltwater solution is called Sole. Do not use the sole neat, it is far too concentrated for that. Dissolve one teaspoon of sole in a glass of water and drink it. The water with the sole tastes softer than regular tap water. Drink the sole at least once a day before breakfast. An extra dose in the evening before going to bed is also fine. In this way, the body is provided with a complete dose of minerals in an excellent proportion to each other every day.

Health benefits

Sinusitis is largely resolved by the Celtic sea salt dissolving the mucus. Celtic sea salt regulates blood pressure . Both low and high blood pressure can be corrected by its use. Of course, always keep a close eye on your blood pressure when using Celtic sea salt! By taking the sea salt with some warm water just before you go to sleep you will sleep deeper and longer so that you wake up more rested. With “normal” salt you run the risk of retaining fluid, but Celtic sea salt can help with the proper fluid balance in the body. It also helps your body to balance electrolytes. Because sea salt contains so many minerals, this substance can support the immune system in suppressing infections. It also helps your body to heal faster after, for example, an illness or when healing a wound. Gargling with Celtic sea salt also works well for a sore throat . Due to the many minerals including magnesium, it also works well against muscle pain and muscle cramps . It also restores the acidity of the body due to the 72 minerals contained in it.

An acidified body

Acidification can be a cause of many diseases, so maintaining a good pH level of the body is important. Diseases such as rheumatism, psoriasis and eczema can have their origins in an overly acidic climate within the body. Celtic sea salt can also help with excessive saliva production . For example, drooling during the night is often a sign that your body needs salts and that you are not drinking enough water. Drinking sole can solve this.

You can drink the sole every day, but of course you can also simply sprinkle Celtic sea salt over food and use it for cooking. And brushing your teeth with Celtic sea salt ensures sparkling white teeth! Use a wet toothbrush and dip it in the Celtic sea salt so that the salt sticks to the bristles. Celtic sea salt is also very healthy for animals and plants. So there are countless ways to use the sole or also the regular Celtic sea salt.
