Clean naturally with Eucalyptus oil

If you like natural products and make your own cleaning or detergent, eucalyptus oil is highly recommended to add to your dishwashing liquid or all-purpose cleaner, for example. The scent is wonderfully fresh and it also makes your remedies antiseptic, antibacterial and even kills parasites. Extremely suitable for the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. If you just want to enjoy the fresh scent in your home or if you suffer from sinusitis, flu or a cold, eucalyptus oil is also very suitable for an oil burner. This way you catch more birds with one stone. Nowadays, more and more booklets and sites are appearing with recipes for making your own well-functioning, and certainly cheaper, cleaning products. It’s also just fun to give it a try and see how it works. Sometimes you need some perseverance because we have been spoiled by synthetic (and very unhealthy) cleaning products where the dirt dissolves and disappears before your eyes. Please realize that this does not just happen. This is mainly because they are very aggressive agents that also act very aggressively on your skin and also end up in your body. You don’t really notice it, but the toxins slowly but surely accumulate in your body over the years. People who choose natural remedies know this all too well.

Different types of

There are many different varieties of eucalyptus. For that reason alone, it is better to purchase the oil from a specialist store in aromatherapy oils, otherwise you will be fobbed off with the general (often synthetic) kind. There is a difference in operation. One eucalyptus oil works better for disinfection, while the other is used more for scent. This is due to the components that are more common in that special type than in the others.

An example:

The Eucalyptus Citriodora is mainly used for its scent. The main active ingredient in this species is citronella. Do you want to repel insects? Then use Eucalyptus Staigeriana . This has a mild scent. The Eucalyptus Polybractea contains more cineole, and cineole ensures that the antiseptic effect is 3.5 times stronger than carbolic acid. Carbolic acid is a synthetic disinfectant. So you can immediately see that natural remedies certainly do not have to have a less affective effect than the regular remedies that you buy at the drugstore. And that is what many people often think. Almost unnecessary to mention that you can only use this last type for external use!

The medicinal uses of eucalyptus with the help of an aromatherapist

Respiratory problems, colds, sore throats, flu, infections, wounds, muscle aches, nerve pain, rheumatic pains, eczema, shingles, blisters, pimples, ulcers and much more. As mentioned, there are many different types of eucalyptus oil, so you really need help from someone who has really learned how to do it. Do not self-medicate, but seek help from a naturopath or even better, an aromatherapist. What you can always do yourself is add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the water in a scented burner. This will make your house wonderfully fresh.

Eucalyptus is perfect for making your own cleaning products

Once you have managed to obtain real and pure essential oil, you can use it for all kinds of applications. The reason I wanted to describe eucalyptus as the first oil is because eucalyptus is often added to homemade natural cleaning products. The first thing you notice is the fresh scent of eucalyptus, but that is certainly not the only reason. It is of course wonderful when everything smells wonderfully fresh again, but the idea is also that it is actually clean and sometimes even as bacteria-free as possible. Well, eucalyptus is also very suitable for that.

Make your own all-purpose cleaner

Requirements: 50 ml white vinegar, 400 ml boiled or distilled water, 30 drops of essential oil. Use an old spray bottle and add the vinegar, oil and then water. Shake well and you’re done! Very useful for all surfaces in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet.

Detergent for laundry

Making your own washing machine detergent is very easy. What you do miss is that nice smell of freshly washed food. You can solve this by adding 60 drops of essential oil. You can choose your own favorite scent for this. The advantage of eucalyptus oil is that it helps against dust mites.

Eucalyptus as an air freshener

Eucalyptus is wonderful to keep your house nice and fresh. Use an old bottle with a spray bottle and mix 30 to 50 drops of eucalyptus with water. An additional advantage is that you also kill 70% of the staphylococci in the air at the same time.

Special applications

  • Do you want to remove labels? Then dab the labels with the oil. Then rub gently with a cloth (alternative to eucalyptus oil: peanut butter or tea tree oil).
  • Do you have a dark colored bath and do you want to make it shine beautifully? Then use a few drops of eucalyptus oil on a damp cloth and turn off the bath.
  • Do you have blood stains in textiles or carpet? Always treat the stain with cold water first. Never with warm water because then the blood clots. Then, drop a little eucalyptus oil on a wet cloth and blot the stain until it disappears. Work from the outside of the stain inward. This way you prevent a clear circle. Please note: eucalyptus oil is not suitable for delicate fabrics such as silk. Always test it out on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Do you suffer from rust stains on chrome? Then rub the stains with the oil and then rub them away with aluminum foil.
  • Grease stains? First treat the stain with warm water and then dab with eucalyptus oil to absorb the grease. Then wash as usual.

Bottles of essential oils can be found almost everywhere and in every shopping city. What you have to pay attention to is that you are dealing with pure essential oil. (yes, yes, again) Because there is also a lot of counterfeiting on the market. The prerequisite for obtaining pure oil is to go to a health food store and obtain information there. The internet is full of information about the uses and effects of many different types of oils.
